Some of the best gigs I’ve been to are the ones where I have no idea what to expect.I glanced at the humble stage as I walked into the Westchester Club in Los Angeles and looked around the small venue. “Are you sure we’re in the right place?” My friend asked, “Yup,” I replied, “I asked the guy at the door, this is it.”
The small crowd eagerly awaited the stars of the night, Fuga, a proclaimed cumbia band from San Francisco, California. The ensemble that fueled together that night entertained our hunger for unique rhythms. Each member contributing a level of originality that sets them apart from the rest. Lead singer Tania Hernandez’s amazing voice brought to life to the band’s powerful lyrics that give voice to issues relating to the latino experience in the United States.
