I can’t believe I allowed over four years to pass without seeing Banda Skalavera. I was ecstatic to see that they had definitely grown as artists over the years. Their songs were filled with anything from heavy ska to sultry reggae. Horns blared, the trombone demanded attention and the sax filled the room with sass bringing an entire campus to life.
The students from the University of Riverside danced around vigorously, so much in fact that I was slammed to the floor at one point and forced to wear a knee brace for a couple of days after the event, but I was proud to display my battle wounds. The part that wasn’t so easy was having to explain my injury to my boss.
