Celebrate musical traditions from around the globe! Kick back and groove or get up and dance to a diverse line-up of leading musicians who represent the best in world music.

MARIA DE BARROS
Thursday, July 21, 8:00 p.m.
Kick off the season with singing sensation Maria de Barros, whose famed godmother, Cesaria Evora, first put Cape Verde on the musical map. Adding French, Spanish, and Caribbean touches, de Barros sings the African and Brazilian–inflected coladeiras and bluesy mornas of her native land. Come be intoxicated by her songs of love and life, which are simultaneously poetic, danceable, and joyful.

NURIYA
Thursday, August 11, 8:00 p.m.
This lively mix of rumba flamenco, Latin, and Middle Eastern musical traditions is not to be missed! Backed by a multinational ten-piece ensemble of expert musicians, rising Jewish Middle Eastern/Mexican star Nuriya brings a touch of Gypsy rhythms to her celebratory music.

MR. VALLENATO
Thursday, August 25, 8:00 p.m.
Join us as we conclude this year’s Sunset Concerts with Mexican American accordion virtuoso Jorge Villarreal (a.k.a. Mr. Vallenato), whose deep love of Colombian music, including cumbia and vallenato, began at age twelve. Joined by his six-piece band, Mr. Vallenato is sure to deliver a live performance that will have you dancing the night away!
