Fire & Soul: L.A. Women Unite for Tia Chucha’s Centro Cultural

The renowned Northeast Valley Chicano arts and cultural center Tia
Chucha’s Centro Cultural presents a powerhouse lineup of female performers
for its 4th annual benefit concert. Artists include former backup singer for
Leonard Cohen and Grammy-nominated vocalist Perla Batalla, alternative Latin
rocker Ceci Bastida who combines the “smokiness of Juana Molina and the
swaggering edge of Nelly Furtado” (LA Weekly), performance artist
extraordinaire Kristina Wong, East LA Chicana sketch comedy troupe Las
Ramonas and National Book Award finalist and poet Wanda Coleman. A special
ceremonial blessing will be performed by Temachtia Quetzalcoatl, Tía
Chucha’s resident Aztec dance company, and Power 106 radio personality
Wendy Carrillo will host this year’s cross-cultural Angelino extravaganza.
